City of Clayton – Zoning Administrator

The City of Clayton is accepting applications for the position of Zoning Administrator. The position is a key member of the City’s management team and performs technical office and skilled inspection work in securing compliance with the municipal building control program, zoning code, and related regulations. Work involves reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with the building code, zoning ordinance, and other regulatory codes. Supervises inspection of buildings and other structures for structural safety, zoning, and code compliance. Work is performed under the direction of the City Manager.

A Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible planning & zoning and/or building inspection experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Training in Fire Life Safety, Flood Plane Management, Soil and Erosion Level IA Fundamentals, Level IB Advanced Fundamentals, and Level II desired. Preferred qualifications include possession of or ability to obtain a Professional Building Official certification and possession of a valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.
