About Brandon Bowen

Brandon Bowen is a partner with Jenkins & Bowen, P.C. Zoning and land use law are a fundamental area of his practice. Mr. Bowen is currently involved in the representation of local governments throughout Georgia in litigation matters, serves as the Bartow County Solicitor, is the City Attorney and Solicitor for the City of Mountain Park, the City Attorney for the City of Kingston, and the Solicitor for the City of Adairsville. Mr. Bowen is regularly hired by local governments across the state to assist with zoning matters not involving litigation. He assists cities and counties in crafting and adopting effective land use and development regulations and reviewing and updating existing ordinances. The focus is always on providing a legally defensible ordinance that will achieve in practice the local government’s goals. Mr. Bowen has also drafted a number of sign and adult entertainment ordinances and is familiar the effect of Federal law on Georgia ordinances. In recent years, assisting code enforcement in dealing with foreclosed and vacant properties has been a frequent part of his practice.

Mr. Bowen is a regular speaker at seminars hosted by the Georgia Association of Zoning Administrators, the Georgia Association of Code Enforcers, the Department of Community Affairs/Community Planning Institute, the Georgia Planning Association, the Georgia Institute of Community Housing, the Georgia Municipal Association, Association County Commissioners of Georgia and the Carl Vinson Institute. These seminars are generally geared toward local government officials and planners. He is also the co­ chair of the Georgia Bar’s Institute of Continue Legal Education’s yearly zoning seminar.

He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. In addition to frequently appearing in the Superior Courts of Georgia, Mr. Bowen is a member of and has appeared in the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals and has also represented clients in zoning and condemnation cases in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
