President Ethan Calhoun called the scheduled board meeting of GAZA to order at 4:27 p.m.
Minutes of the previous board meeting held in Eatonton, Georgia, on April 12, 2024, were reviewed. Toussaint Kirk made a motion, seconded by Lisa Jackson, to approve the minutes as written. Unanimous approval.
Norman Pope, Treasurer, distributed copies of the current financial report of the Association and provided information about revenue and expenses. Randy Mannino made a motion, seconded by Jeanne Anne Marsh, to approve the financial report. Unanimous approval.
Jeanne Anne Marsh provided a report from the scholarship committee and informed the board that Allison Oliver, daughter of GAZA member Roy Oliver, was the winter of the 2024-2025 Bettye Gecoma GAZA scholarship.
Legislative committee had no report, but representatives from ACCG and GMA will address the membership during tomorrow’s session.
Communications Committee reported lots of activity from out website and other social media outlets.
Sponsorship Committee reported that $4,500.00 had been received for this conference, and we should make extra efforts to thank our sponsors.
Lisa Jackson and Ethan Calhoun reported on their trip to the GMA Conference and the membership recruitment.
Norman Pope reported that membership stood at 157 and we needed to encourage all attendees to check their renewal status.
The board voted unanimously to ask Loretta Hylton to accept a board position. Loretta is a past president of GAZA and would be a great asset to the Association.
Community Achievement Awards will be presented tomorrow at the luncheon to Cherokee County and Whitfield County.
The 2025 Winter GAZA Conference will be held in Columbus, Georgia, on February 12-14, 2025. Summer 2025 Conference site has not been decided at this point.
Speaker introductions were appointed for the upcoming six sessions.
The next board meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Eatonton, Georgia at the Putnam County Administration Center.
